Michelstadt

For a single family residence in Michelstadt, we designed both the architecture and interior of a contemporary wooden house. Emphasizing natural materials, the interior features architectural elements crafted from locally sourced wood, finished in its raw, authentic state to highlight its texture and warmth.

SPATIAL CONCEPT

The building consists of two floors, each thoughtfully designed to balance function and connection to its surroundings. The first floor, facing the street, houses the car park, office, and children's bedrooms, while the ground floor seamlessly extends into the garden, accommodating the living and dining areas along with the master bedroom.

Materiality and Atmosphere

The entire structure is crafted from KVH solid structural timber with a white glazed finish, carefully chosen for its durability, sustainability, and warm aesthetic. This material not only enhances the tactile and visual experience of the interior but also reinforces a sense of continuity between architecture and nature.

Wood, Light, and Balance

The exposed wood surfaces create a calming, organic atmosphere, while the soft white glazing refines the texture, allowing light to subtly interact with the grain. Complementing this, sleek white panels in the built-in kitchen and the crisp framing of windows and stairs introduce a modern contrast, balancing raw authenticity with refined precision. The result is a harmonious interplay of materiality—where tradition meets contemporary minimalism, and craftsmanship elevates everyday living.
