KONTORHAUS STUDIO

Frankfurt am Main

We designed our own studio as an industrial-style office in an editorial setting, creating a striking fusion of raw, utilitarian elements with a carefully curated feel. It’s a space where creativity meets functionality, resulting in an environment that’s both dynamic and comfortable for productive work. The design emphasizes open, uncluttered spaces and the honest beauty of raw materials, all while offering a contemporary edge.

DYNAMIC LAYOUT

The design focuses on large, uninterrupted spaces where walls and partitions are minimal, allowing for easy movement and collaboration. With fewer barriers, the layout promotes interaction, creativity, and a sense of unity among team members. The openness is further enhanced by the incorporation of natural light streaming through expansive windows, creating a bright, airy atmosphere. This layout is functional yet inviting, offering distinct areas for work, meetings, and relaxation without the constraint of traditional office cubicles.

HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN

Each piece feels carefully chosen, from the weathered leather chair to the strategically placed light fixture hanging from the ceiling. This style isn’t about excess; it’s about creating a space that feels both professional and inspiring, with just the right balance of rugged rawness and creative energy.

LIGHTING

Lighting fixtures are a standout feature in an industrial office, with exposed bulbs, pendant lights, and oversized metal sconces often taking center stage. Black or brass finishes complement the industrial theme, while strategically placed task lights create a functional yet intimate atmosphere. Large windows maximize natural light, and ambient lighting softens the industrial edges, especially during off-hours.

Décor and Accents

Decor is minimal but thoughtfully curated. Large, oversized art pieces or models are strategically placed on the shelfs, often with an abstract or urban aesthetic that complements the space’s industrial vibe. Potted plants in simple concrete or metal planters bring life and warmth, softening the harder edges. Open shelving made of metal hosts books, a few unique objects, and vintage finds that showcase the personality of the space’s occupants.
